It is no secret that boxing legend Mike Tyson has been vegan for a long time. The former heavyweight champion adopted this diet owing to his health conditions due to old age. However, his temptations were put to test on the latest episode of his podcast with UFC lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett.

Pimblett is known for his outlandish eating habits, which were on full display in the show. He was eating some chicken wings along with french fries which tempted Tyson to have a try. “I wish I could eat like he’s eating,” said Tyson.

The British fighter then went on to offer Iron Mike some of the wings. However, Tyson refused and stated that he cannot eat red meat at his age. “Does not work for 56, I won’t be able to s**t for a week. I won’t be able to s**t….I just can’t eat the red meat. I won’t be able to s**t,” he added.

The former heavyweight champion has encountered a lot of health problems over the years. Moreover, his history of substance abuse made it necessary for him to adopt such a diet.

How turning vegan helped Mike Tyson

In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Tyson admitted that a vegetarian diet helped him overcome his drug addiction and helped him lose over 100 pounds in weight. “Becoming a vegan gave me another opportunity to live a healthy life. I was so congested from all the drugs and bad c***ne, I could hardly breathe, [I had] high blood pressure, [was] almost dying [and had] arthritis. And once I became a vegan, all that stuff diminished,” he said in the interview.

These recurring problems have stuck around with him to this day. Iron Mike has claimed that he had sciatica buildup in his back, which has only gotten worse with time. However, maintaining this healthy lifestyle will benefit him and can also help in minimizing his back problems.
