Despite numerous efforts to lure Devin Haney and Frank Martin to a fight, Shakur Stevenson found himself without an opponent. But that changed officially after a press release from Top Rank claimed Shakur will face Edwin De Los Santos. What’s more, legendary boxing promoter Bob Arum announced the fight will unfold on 16 November in T-Mobile Arena, Sincity. However, Shakur ‘Sugar’ Stevenson is contemplating another potential fight against Ryan Garcia.

Rayn Garcia recently went toe-to-toe with Gervonta Davis but unfortunately could not produce a win. ‘Tank’ dropped Garcia in the seventh round via brutal knockout. Ever since that point, the boxing world has been wondering what’s next in store for ‘King Ry’. If the recent interview with ESNEWS is any evidence, Shakur could just be the next boxer Ryan will face. It’s worth mentioning that Shakur and Ryan have faced one another in the past. The pair fought each other during their amateur career. But is Shakur seriously thinking about the fight? Or is it just a thought?

Shakur Stevenson answers how big a fight with Ryan would be

While speaking to Shakur about a fight between him and ‘Tank,’ the reporter brought up a potential bout with Rayn Garcia. “You and Ryan Garcia, how big is that?” the reporter asked. In response to this unexpected pairing, Ryan responded with an expected answer. Initially, Shakur contemplates, “Me and Ryan Garcia? I mean, it’s a big fight.” 

Later, he seemed to open up to the idea and stated, “I would definitely be down for it.” Shakur even announced, “If he wants to fight me, tell him he can have me.” With that said, it presents an interesting opportunity for both fighters. On one hand, Shakur can further his career by fighting Ryan. On the other, Ryan gets an opportunity to redeem himself after losing against ‘Tank.’

What went wrong with Shakur’s initial bout with Devin Haney?

The talks about the two fighters facing each other started with an X (Twitter) feud. Both undefeated fighters launched a war of words and insulted each other every chance they got. They even challenged each other to a fight, but unfortunately, it never materialized. The reason behind it? Both fighters claim different reasons.

While Devin Haney had offered a contract to Shakur, but Shakur turned it down. He claimed Haney was offering him an unfair split of the fight. It was a 25/75 profit split, to be exact. On the other side, Haney threw his hands up by saying Shakur rejected the offer he had made. Haney then moved up a weight class to face Regis Prograis, leaving Shakur without an opponent.
