Retired American boxer Tommy Hearns has made a bold claim about Manny Pacquiao. Hearns was one of the most famous boxers of his era; He was the first boxer in the sport’s history to win the world title in five different weight divisions. Pacquiao has since bettered that record by winning the world title in eight different categories. Despite this, the former champion fancies his chances against ‘Pac-Man’.

Speaking to Satterfield of RingTV.com, Hearns addressed a potential fantasy fight between the pair in their prime. The two never met in the ring, but Hearns thinks if they did, he could dispatch the Filipino super-star. He said, “He would definitely have to come to me. I would probably box him and keep boxing him and look for the shot.”

He added, “Yeah, definitely, I would box him and look for the opening. I would give him a good boxing lesson.”

This indicated that he would have no problem in outboxing one of the best in the sport. Although, with a record of 62-7-2, we’re not sure how much more there is for the ‘Pac Man’ to learn.

The 62-year-old continued, “They would have to be really fighting hard and be ready to absorb a lot of punches to beat me. Because, you know, I ain’t going to let anybody just come in and beat me.”

Looking at Tommy Hearns’ record, it is clear to see why he thinks he could take them on. His professional record stands at a staggering 61-5-1; which is very similar to Pacquiao’s record. Who do you think would have come on out top if this fight had happened with both fighters in their prime?
