Last weekend, Jermell Charlo took up the ring space against Brian Castano. The pair entered a mammoth showdown against each other for the undisputed super-welterweight championship. This contest was no less than a war, wherein the duo traded massive blows with each other. However, to everyone’s surprise, this bout ended with a dreadful draw.

As the fight began, the Argentinian came out as the better boxer with his aggressive approach. Castano was even on the brink of knocking ‘Iron Man’ out. However, the American boxer somehow survived the wrath of Castano’s power.

Capitalizing on the same, Charlo even responded well, landing some fiery counterattacks on his contemporary. Unfortunately for him, it wasn’t enough to win. And given the IBF’s call, the division’s wait to crown an undisputed champion may extend to 20222.

When will the Jermell Charlo vs Brian Castano rematch take place?

Since the IBF has now officially ordered Charlo to face his mandatory contender, he has no other option but to fight Bakhram Murtazaliev.

On the other hand, Castano, too, might get aligned for a fight against another contender, most probably his mandatory challenger. Citing that, both of them will have to get past their next opponents in order to get aligned for a rematch.

As we are already in July, this high-class rematch doesn’t seem to be possible for this year, as Charlo may fight Murtazaliev only in October or November. Hence, if it does go down, Charlo vs Castano 2 may only take place at the start of 2022.
