Recently, WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury commented on fellow British rival Anthony Joshua’s Black Lives Matter speech.

AJ sparked controversy when he delivered his BLM speech. The IBF, WBA, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion received a ton of criticism for his actions. In his speech, the Englishman said:

“Show them where it hurts. Abstain from spending your money in their shops and economies, and invest in black-owned businesses.”

Although the Brit claimed that the lines were taken out of context, he could not stop the onslaught from the fans. Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn tried to clear the Britisher’s stance; however, they were unsuccessful in doing so.

Furthermore, Joshua lashed out at fans who called him a racist.

Tyson Fury comments on Anthony Joshua’s speech

“I’m sure AJ has got his reasons why he said what he said, and its concern is none of my business what he said,” Tyson Fury told Behind The Gloves. “That’s his own opinion and everyone to their opinion.

“Let’s just say, I’m not pushing knives in or pushing anybody when they’re down but if it had been me who said it, ‘Don’t shop in any black-owned stores or any Asian owned stores’ or anything, or don’t buy from their businesses, then I’d have been crucified like Jesus Christ. I’ll just say that.”

Moreover, Fury claimed that color does not exist for him. He went a step further to explain that his team consists of people from different backgrounds. He also revealed that he was a victim of racism.

“Good job it wasn’t me, and it never would be me because to me color doesn’t exist, I’ve got the most diverse team in boxing,” he said. “I’ve suffered racism all my life, 32 years old in August, come from a traveling background, gypsies hated racist people.”

“It’s the only race that it’s sort of acceptable to be racist towards these days. Even the TV companies in this country are allowed to be racist towards travelers, it’s terrible. But I’m not a person who gives a damn about what color somebody is or what background they’re from or whatever, because to me everyone is the same, it doesn’t really matter, it is what it is.”

Both Fury and Joshua are expected to clash in 2021. But they must first get through their respective opponents first. Joshua must defeat IBF mandatory Kubrat Pulev. And Fury should beat Deontay Wilder in the trilogy.
