An all-Brit unification between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury might happen sooner rather than later if Deontay Wilder takes a ?step-aside? deal according to promoter Eddie Hearn. A fight between the two heavyweight stars could potentially be the biggest the division has witnessed over the past decade.
Hearn wanted to finalize a fight between the two, but the coronavirus pandemic has derailed plans for the time being.
Joshua is set to face his mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev on June 20th. However, the fight is likely to get pushed back to late July. Similary, the trilogy bout between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder was slated for early October but the virus has once again ensured all fights and major events will have to wait.
A potential all-brit unification bout is certainly interesting, given the skill-set both fighters possess. We are sure to witness a boxing masterclass if the two heavyweight titans square off anytime soon.

“Anthony Joshua would very much like it to be against Fury”-Eddie Hearn
“We’ve got June 20 as a penciled date for Anthony Joshua. We will make a statement potentially this week, or maybe early next week, that’s likely to be delayed. I think that’s pretty straightforward and obvious. Hopefully until the end of July. But if it starts kicking on beyond that, then you get to a situation where if Joshua is only going to box once this year, he would very much like that to be against Tyson Fury. The situation is a little bit out of our hands in that, if Bob Arum and Al Haymon can talk and make Deontay Wilder wait a little bit, we would absolutely love to go into that fight next?
said Eddie Hearn to SkySports.
However, it?s almost impossible to predict whether ?The Bronze Bomber? will take step aside money. Moreover, Wilder has been patiently waiting to avenge his loss after his disappointing performance against the Gypsy King.
With several potential match-ups being lined up for the year, we will have to wait and see how the division unfolds.
