Mike Tyson, the former two-time heavyweight champion, jumped into the high-intensity ongoing controversy between Canelo Alvarez and Lionel Messi. The living legend did not support the Mexican and, in turn, defended one of the greatest soccer players of all time.

The high-profile drama sparked after Canelo reacted blatantly to a video that showed the Argentine icon celebrating a 2-0 win over Mexico in the group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup along with his teammates in the dressing room. While doing so, Messi stepped on the Mexican national team T-shirt. This hurt the undisputed super-middleweight champion’s sentiments, and he got offended.

Immediately, the angry hard-hitter took to social media and wrote a threatening message.

“Did you guys see Messi cleaning the floor with our jersey and flag? He better pray to God that I don’t find him. Just like I respect Argentina, he has to respect Mexico”, Alvarez wrote on Twitter.

When ‘The Baddest Man on Planet’ came across this storyline, he took a bold stand. Defending Messi, he warned Canelo.
In an interview with BBO Sports, he said, “Someone called ‘Canelo’ threatened Messi. If he dares to touch Messi, I will have to return to the ring.”

But as of now, it does not seem that Tyson has to return to the ring against the Mexican.
Canelo Alvarez admits his mistake
The four-weight division world champ apologized to Messi and to the folks of Argentina on Wednesday.

According to him, he was carried away by the passion and love that he feels for his country. It was a misunderstanding that led to this chaos.

Following a win over Poland, Messi also commented on it. In his opinion, it was a misunderstanding because he never intended to disrespect anyone.
