Stephen Anthony Smith is known for his bluntness and the ability to share his candid opinion. This gets telecasted to millions of people all over the world. Such an ability ought to draw some strong reactions from people and, in his recent appearance on an episode of Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson, the media personality addressed all the black athletes for coming at him and tussling him verbally for different reasons.
He also opened up regarding the reason he gets into trouble with athletes. While on Mike Tyson’s podcast, the sports media personality talked about how voicing his true opinion about an athlete does not sit well with the athletes. It also leads to altercations that are headed nowhere.

Stephen A Smith’s message for athletes
Smith talked about how conveying personal and professional stories of an athlete has caught him at the center of verbal attacks from black athletes specifically. He sent out a message to athletes coming at him while on Mike Tyson’s podcast.
Smith said, “When you see me tussling verbally, of course with the black athlete here and there whatever my willingness to tussle with them is that I’m here in front of your face you could have told me whatever the issue is.” He further claimed that it’s his duty to tell the story just as the athletes narrate to him instead of conveying the stories in a personal manner.

He further clarified that when it comes to the professional performance of the athlete, he only calls a spade a spade. Smith claimed that it doesn’t matter to him whether an athlete loses inside the ring or on the football field. He has to report what he sees. Smith said, “I gotta report what I see, but when it comes to your personal story that transcends your realm of play, it’s your story to tell if you don’t tell a story, don’t bitch at me because of what I said.”
