Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua have a lot of history between them. It dates back to the time when both of them were amateurs. The fighter out of Brixton, London has only had one L on his resume, courtesy of Joshua. But now Whyte feels he can win the rematch against the former Olympic gold medalist.

The fact that Andy Ruiz floored Joshua amplified Whyte’s belief that he can repeat the same. In Joshua’s defence, he took the fight on short notice and later reclaimed his belts in December. However, the fact that Joshua has lost once already to the “Destroyer” is enough evidence for Whyte that he can do it too.

If Ruiz can knock him out, I can 100 per cent knock him out, because I’m a harder puncher than Andy Ruiz, pound-for-pound. I’ve got better feet than him as well, and better boxing technique than Andy Ruiz. He’s got fast hands, but his feet are slow,” Whyte told Sky Sports.

Despite Whyte’s inclination towards fighting Joshua once again, he has to keep in mind that a meeting with the Watford-born fighter may not come very soon. Joshua is currently waiting to get in the ring with Kubrat Pulev. The fight was originally scheduled for June this year. However, amidst the raging outbreak of Coronavirus, the event will be rescheduled.

Dillian Whyte ready to fight Anthony Joshua “at a drop of a hat”

Even if Joshua manages to get past Pulev, the next likely opponent that makes the most sense is Tyson Fury. Whyte will have to pray that Joshua gets through his next two opponents. However, if he does then it would be the fight of his life for Dillian.

It’s one of the biggest fights out there. Imagine, to get one shot at all the marbles at once, how unreal that would be after all this nonsense – and then out of nowhere, me and Joshua fight, I knock him out and became the undisputed champion of the world.”

Whyte defeated Joshua as an amateur in 2009 by a unanimous decision. Joshua later returned the favour when the two met as professionals in 2015. Whyte has returned stronger than ever after his defeat at the hands of Joshua. He has won 11 consecutive fights. He will be looking to carry the same momentum forward if he wishes to get a chance at AJ again.
