“I’m a White Male and I Suffer Racism”- Tyson Fury

The Gypsy King, Tyson Fury has revealed he has suffered from racist taunts throughout his career. Fury comes from a traveler background and has been the subject of taunts, due to his ethnicity.

America has witnessed widespread protests, due to police brutality against the African-American community. Fury was questioned by Piers Morgan about the incident and said the fight against racism is a year-round process.

Tyson Fury also pointed out that several communities suffer from racial slurs being thrown at them and for some, it’s become normal.

“I come from an ethnic background”-Tyson Fury

“I’m a white male and I suffer racism in 2020 because I’m a traveler, I come from an ethnic background. Even today you go into pubs, bars, restaurants and it says ‘we reserve the right to not let travelers in, no travelers allowed, gypsies or travelers’.

“So it’s not just black people who suffer racism. I think travelers are at the most acceptable form of racism in Britain and around the world. It’s still acceptable to be racist towards travelers.

“Nothing ever gets done about it, no one ever says anything, it’s just accepted, it is what it is,” said Fury on Good Morning Britain.

Several boxers have been vocal about their support for the community. Police brutality against the African-American community has been an enduring issue.

George Floyd is a continuation in a series of extra-judicial acts committed by the police against the community. Several peaceful protests have taken place. However, violence and looting have been a major talking point as well.

“To have such things go on in my life with what I’ve been through and to see that on doors. To even be refused as a person. Not as an ethnic group or whatever, as a person. I’ve been refused entry even when I was world heavyweight champion,” said Fury.

Tyson Fury has been vocal about racism, with several celebrities joining him to fight against such atrocities.
