Oscar De La Hoya claims it’s his right to be concerned

During the interview, the host brought up Oscar’s tweet about Garcia’s mental health. So, in response, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions suggested Garcia wanted to move to 143, so he made it happen. “Well, Ryan Garcia wanted a catch weight of 143. So, we made it happen,” said Oscar. He revealed that he is concerned about why Ryan isn’t fighting in 140. “I am concerned because why not make it at 140? If you’re a professional, if you’re gonna train hard and work hard, then 140 shouldn’t be a problem,” said Oscar.

He went on to claim that he was not sure why Ryan made the move while suggesting he was worried because he cared. “I have no idea why he wanted this fight at 143, and it’s concerning. I’m genuinely concerned about him of where he’s at, and it’s my right to be concerned because I care,” said Oscar. While Oscar expressed his concerns about Ryan’s mental health, the question remains – what prompted Oscar to be concerned?

Ryan Garcia’s outburst during the press conference

During the press conference held for the weigh-ins for his upcoming fight, Garcia lashed out at Hopkins. Previously, the top brass at Golden Boy Promotions remarked about Garcia’s boxing career, which did not sit well with him. So, during a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, Hopkins suggested Golden Boy promotions is “not in the business of kissing [a] fighter’s a**.”

Meanwhile, when Garcia was on the stage, Oscar De La Hoya was seen in the background, uncomfortably witnessing the ordeal. So, that’s likely what prompted De La Hoya to showcase concern about Ryan’s mental health.
