The Matchroom Fight Camp serves as Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn’s response to the coronavirus stopping sporting events. The initiative sees Matchroom pugilists return to action in a makeshift arena at the promoter’s garden.

The second event will see two British featherweight boxers, Terri Harper and Natasha Jonas, clash in a 10-round contest for the IBO and WBC featherweight titles. The match will mark the first time two British females have squared off for a world title.

After the duo made the featherweight weight limit ahead of the highly anticipated bout, champion Harper provided her thoughts ahead of her maiden dual-title defense. The boxer has defended her IBO super featherweight title twice. However, in her last fight, she claimed the WBC super featherweight title in a winner takes all clash against Eva Wahlstrom.

In conversation with Sky Sports, the dual champion said, “I’m very calm. It’s nothing but confidence. I feel big and strong. I’m ready to go.”I’ve got respect for Tasha and what she’s done for female boxing. This is a great opportunity for female boxing.”

She also responded to Jonas’ claims about securing the win by knockout saying, “The talking’s gonna be done now, and it’s all about tomorrow. I’m not getting stopped – those belts are coming home back to Doncaster.”

Meanwhile, the 36-year-old former Olympian concurred with her younger opponent, saying, “There’s no pressure on me. I’m sick of talking about it, I just want to do it.”

Additionally, she believes that Harper will bring her A-game as she gears up to battle against someone she looked up to. Jonas said, “She didn’t look up to me for no reason. I was an elite amateur at my best, and I believe that I’m back there.”

Furthermore, she opines that everything happens for a reason and will not say that another title fight has come too late. “Everything happens for a reason. You take opportunities for nights like these. This is my night.”

Jonas has held championship gold before in the form of the WBA international female super featherweight title. Both pugilists have 10 professional bouts in their careers, and Jonas knows that at 36, she will be running out of time and world title opportunities. Hence, she will look to snap Harper’s undefeated streak.
