Boxing will soon get fans in the arena as Gervonta Davis and Leo Santa Cruz will kick off the saga by putting their respective WBA titles on the line on December 31. The event will take place inside the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

However, fan attendance can be a threat, considering that COVID-19 is still wreaking havoc around the world. Although boxing promoters want to host the event amid fans with certain medical protocols and social-distancing measures in place, a minute mishap can be disastrous. That said, it might also endanger Gervonta Davis and Leo Santa Cruz.

Despite that, WBA lightweight champion ‘Tank’ Davis is unbothered about it. He wants to put on a show for the fans, even if he has to contract the virus. That’s a bizarre yet brave statement, coming straight from the undefeated lightweight champion.

Gervonta Davis is not afraid of COVID-19

Davis will put his clean record and title at stake when the bell rings on October 31. However, he will also risk his heath to the deadly COVID-19 by appearing in a fan-packed arena.

That said, ‘Tank’ has chalked up plans for his upcoming journey if he catches the virus. Speaking with the TMZ, Davis said, “I’m just only speaking for me as a fighter. I’m okay with getting sick to please the fans”

He added, “If I got sick and I find out that night, I’d be okay with it just knowing that I put on a great show. I did it in front of the fans. I did it for a cause. If I gotta take that hit, then you know I’ll quarantine by myself, just knowing that I did it for the fans, and I did something great for the sport and things like that.”

Davis doesn’t want that to happen. However, it will also not prevent him from giving it all inside the ring. If Davis successfully runs through Santa Cruz, he will also add the WBA super featherweight title under his name.
