Lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez will look to cement his place at the top of the division when he faces his mandatory challenger George Kambosos Jr. ‘The Takeover’ will make his highly anticipated first title defense against the Australian, and now, we have more information about the event.

The two will face off as the main event of a unique card on June 19 on Triller. Initially, they would have met on June 5; however, they had to push it back. Now, there is an important update about the tickets for the event.

Keith Idec from Boxing Scene was the first to report the news. He took to his Twitter to reveal that the ticket prices range from $150 to $10,000. He then confirmed that it was indeed $10,000 and not a mistake. This shows the exorbitant cost of attending the fight in person. Moreover, the bout will also be on PPV, which could be near $50.

Despite this, it appears the $10,000 tickets are the VIP section. The official ticketing website is selling tickets ranging from $175 to $999, depending on the different sections. Thus, although this is still high, it is not as high as Idec suggested.

Why are the tickets for the Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos Jr. event so expensive?

Lopez is a relatively new superstar in the sport, and this will only be his first title defense. In addition, this would mark Triller’s first boxing event with a full capacity crowd. Also, it would only be their third boxing event. So why are they pricing the tickets so high?

The video-sharing platform won the purse bid for this fight with an incredible $6 million bid. This shocked the boxing world since it was double the next best bid. However, it was clear Triller would have to recoup the money.

In addition to having to pay all the boxers on the card, as well as the event-related expenses, Triller does boxing events differently. The June 19 card will also feature music performances from celebrity artists. Therefore, this will only add to the costs.

When you consider all these aspects, it is easy to see why Triller has priced their tickets so high. However, given the drama between the two fighters, it will live up to the hype.
