Mike Tyson is one of the greatest personalities ever to tighten their boxing gloves. The former heavyweight champion was decades ahead of his competition. Starting training at 13 with his long-time trainer, Cus D’Amato, he was born to fight. His presence in boxing revolutionized the sport, and he even became one of the most adored and, at the same time, feared boxers of his time. But age is not a battle one can win, and Tyson was no exception to this harsh reality. As thrilling and fast as the heavyweight was during his prime, during the latter part of his career, Tyson’s performance was hampered inside the boxing ring by his lack of motivation and troubles outside the ring.
Tyson’s retirement from the sport is still one of the sport’s most emotional and surprising moments. The youngest heavyweight champion decided that his time with the sport has come to an end, and he couldn’t continue.
