Most newcomers in boxing would love to be compared to Gervonta Davis! After all, he is the face of boxing! But what about Curmel Moton? Coming out of the same gym, Moton and Davis have a lot in common. For instance, Moton considers Floyd Mayweather his mentor, and Davis, at one point, did the same, and that’s not even the end of it!
One is touted as the best pound-for-pound champion, while the other is expected to be the next big name. Many fans, therefore, consider Moton as “Tank 2.0,” a premium product of Floyd’s gym. Moton recently revealed his next fight will be on March 30, but his opponent remains nameless. However, before his third pro fight, the future face of boxing was featured in an interview with Cigar Talk, revealing his thoughts on being considered “Tank 2.0.”

Speaking to Moton, the host, Naji brought up the nickname people have labeled him, questioning how he felt about it. In response, ‘Big Deal’ revealed he used to be proud of being called “Tank 2.0.” “I used to take it as a compliment when I was an amateur. I [took] it as a compliment [because] they [compared] me to ‘Tank.’ He [is the] face of boxing like the biggest names in the sport, real high skill,” said Moton.
However, things have changed for Moton, and now he wants to be called something else. “But now, I feel like I want to make a name for myself. I don’t want to be 2.0 or nobody. I want to be the first me and make my own name,” Moton told Naji. So, those are Moton’s thoughts on being called “Tank 2.0” by the fans, but that’s not the end of his thoughts about boxing fans in general.
Moton describes the hardest part of boxing
It’s not the months-long training camp, it’s not the fear of getting hit, and it’s not even the fear of losing. According to Moton’s X post from January 25, the hardest part of boxing is to keep the fans happy! “Hardest part I would say is tryna please boxing fans they the phoniest mfs in the world,” Moton wrote. He wishes fans would learn to love more than just a brawl.
