Floyd Mayweather, the retired five-division world champion, continues to spin headlines in the boxing world as a promoter. He had a successful combat career for over 20 years and has seemingly carried that success to his promotional career. His stable has umpteen A-listers, including modern-day superstars like Roland Romero, Gervonta Davis, and many others.

That said, ‘Tank’ Davis appears to be the biggest name of all. The 26-year-old is an unbeaten three-weight world champion, with a KO ratio of 96%. Hence, Davis has rightly sent the combat world into a frenzy, amassing attention from every corner of the world. However, a lot of that is under the shadow of ‘TBE’ Floyd Mayweather.

While the legendary boxer has constantly promoted Gervonta Davis, he has also remained relevant by sticking beside ‘Tank’ in some of the biggest fights. Hence, Mayweather could have found a good way to cement himself in the news by grabbing a portion of Gervonta Davis’ spotlight. But is it really true?

Following his pro debut in 2013, Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis came under the Mayweather Promotions in 2015. Hence, the Baltimore native received the biggest fights of the time. These earned him big paydays and relevance. Therefore, it can be said that his skills, combined with Mayweather’s presence and ‘Money’s’ team, helped ‘Tank’ to attain success this early.

From being a corner-side advisor, mentor, to celebration-partner, ‘Money’, who accompanies ‘Tank’ for his fights, appears to have Davis’ back all the time. Right after Tank’s victories, we also see Mayweather get inside the ring, which sees him attract attention.

Floyd Mayweather is arguably the biggest superstar in the history of boxing. Hence, he doesn’t really need to rely on a youngster’s stardom to tout his own name. Even today, the 44-year-old can bag over $100 million paydays by competing in mere exhibition bouts. That said, it’s bizarre to accuse Floyd Mayweather of trying to steal his own boxers’ glory.

Nevertheless, ‘Money’ knows how to grab fame. Be it inside or outside the ring, Floyd Mayweather has always been the center of attraction. Hence, his presence itself demands to be felt.

The former champion is still a big name and will seemingly remain so in the coming days. And as a promoter, he needs to be by ‘Tank’s’ side throughout.
