Severa boxing analysts don’t really prefer to put anyone above Floyd Mayweather in the all-time G.O.A.T. list. Boasting a 50-0 undefeated record and world championships in five divisions, Mayweather has shared the ring with some of the best and has conquered them all.

But there may be a modern-era legend who can surpass all of it and touch new heights. Apart from records, boxing skills can also play a pivotal role in shaping one’s legacy. While Mayweather is often accused of delivering boring fights, WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford might just become a better version of ‘TBE’ Mayweather.

Fellow American boxers- Floyd Mayweather and Terence Crawford are both undefeated stars. While Mayweather has retired, Crawford is still actively taking on the current era stars. Sharing 10 years of the age gap, Mayweather and Crawford stand quite close to each other in terms of numbers.

If we expect ‘Bud’ to compete for another decade, we may see him topple Mayweather’s records. That being said, retaining the unbeaten tag will be extremely demanding. As we stand in 2021, here’s a comparison of Terence Crawford and Floyd Mayweather.

Floyd Mayweather vs Terence Crawford- Records, Numbers KOs

In an active career of 13 years, Crawford has amassed a 37-0 record (28 KOs). He has won all 37 of his pro-appearances and is currently a P4P great of boxing. On the contrary, Floyd Mayweather won all 50 of his pro-appearances in a span of over two decades.

That said, Mayweather’s last win came against a non-professional pugilist Conor McGregor. Meanwhile, Mayweather has attained 27 of his victories via stoppage which also includes his controversial win against Victor Ortiz.

As the timeline shows, Crawford seems to have been more active than Floyd Mayweather so far. He has already surpassed ‘TBE’ in terms of scoring KOs.

If ‘Bud’ sticks around for the next few years, he needs 14 wins more to surpass Mayweather’s 50-0 record.

World championships and Skills

Floyd Mayweather is a five-division world champion and Crawford has held titles in three weight classes so far. Currently, a 147 pounder, the WBO champion needs to move up to secure a similar status with Floyd Mayweather. Crawford definitely has the ability to rise and conquer more divisions.

While ‘Money’ Mayweather has beaten the best of his time, Crawford has yet to compete against the boxers like Errol Spence Jr., Yordenis Ugas, and the other champions of his division. Thus, it is still too early to compare ‘Bud’ with ‘TBE’.
