Former undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez was recently seen alongside his brother, Ricardo Alvarez, at El Pastor Del Rica, Ricardo’s taco restaurant in Guadalajara. Fans were pleasantly surprised to catch the Mexican superstar stepping out of the ring to help his brother with the family business, a gesture that highlights Canelo’s deep-rooted love and support for his loved ones. 

Reportedly, Ricardo, a former boxer who hung up his gloves in 2014, owns the restaurant chain, which opened its first location in the United States in Chula Vista, California, in April or May 2022. Since Canelo’s visit, several pictures and videos have surfaced on social media, capturing the heartwarming moments and showcasing the Alvarez brothers working together, further endearing their fans.

Earlier today, Boxing Kingdom shared a clip of Canelo’s visit to the Taco restaurant, with the caption reading, “Canelo Alvarez visited the restaurant ‘El Pastor Del Rica’ in Guadalajara last night. Canelo’s brother Ricardo is the owner of the restaurant. A large number of fans waited for Canelo.”

Meanwhile, the clip showed Canelo helping his brother prepare tacos surrounded by media and hundreds of fans at the location. Even Ricardo shared some stills from Canelo’s visit to the restaurant on his Instagram story, writing, “We are ready to serve you your tacos,” and “Luxury Tacos” in another. 

Canelo is coming off a one-sided, unanimous decision win over Edgar Berlanga, as the boxing world speculates what the next step for Canelo would be. Regardless, this surprise appearance seems to have sent fans into a frenzy, as they celebrated the Mexican superstar and his brother in the comments of the post from Boxing Kingdom.

Given Canelo’s popularity, it shouldn’t really be a surprise that his visit to the restaurant has caught so much steam online. However, reacting to Canelo serving food, one user brought up Canelo’s past. The user wrote, “Hopefully they don’t serve any tainted Mexican beef.” The user is taking a not-so-subtle jab at Canelo for testing positive for clenbuterol before his fight against Gennady Golovkin in 2018. Canelo and his team had claimed the substance came from eating contaminated meat. 

Another user brought up the time one of Canelo’s brothers was kidnapped by a Mexican Cartel. The user asked, “Is This the One That Got Kidnapped By Cartel?” While it’s not clear which of his brothers was kidnapped by the cartel, the incident happened in 2018. Canelo had to negotiate with the kidnappers for three days before one of his older brothers was safely returned. 

Meanwhile, this user felt Canelo and Ricardo looked very similar to each other. “He looks like Canelo but taller and darker,” the user commented. It might be due to the caps and clothing they’re wearing, which accentuate their similar features.

Even the next user felt the same. “Which one is canelo lol😂😂,” the user asked. Since they are biological siblings, some facial similarities are to be expected. 

Someone else had an interesting question about Canelo serving food at the restaurant. “If canelo gives you a taco, do you eat it or frame it🤔,” the user asked. If you could get Canelo to sign it as well, framing it might not be the worst idea. 

That being said, Canelo’s appearance in his brother’s restaurant didn’t just attract many customers—it also provided fans with a glimpse into his humble beginnings.
