Ryan Garcia‘s recent win is more than just about himself. The 25-year-old was earlier trained by Joe Goossen. However, after his defeat against Gervonta Davis, he dropped him. The young prospect later joined hands with a renowned boxing trainer, Derrick James. Derrick James had been written off as a bad coach after two of his prospects Errol Spence Jr. and Jermell Charlo were both defeated earlier this year.

After Garcia’s recent win against Oscar Duarte, James finds himself to be in the center of praise and credit once again. In a recent social media post, a fan addressed how the narrative had changed about him after his fighters. Find out what the fan had to suggest and how the boxing trainer reacted to it.

The recent win of Garcia ignites an intriguing opinion

After his fighter, ‘King Ry,’ won recently, a fan suggested that it is not wise to disregard one’s credentials over a couple of defeats. Reflecting on the same, a user named Krystyle on Instagram stated, “A lot of critics had a lot to say after the Spence fight and discredited the work of Derrick James. Let me tell you something, in any sport you’ll win and lose some, unfortunately..but to discredit the years of work that he put into this sport is total bullsh*t. Argue with your mama. I said what I said. And ain’t nobody gone do nothing but talk. Congratulations on your win.”

The same story was re-posted by James on his recent Instagram story, inferring his agreement with the claim. Let’s take a look at how James has been a driving force in Garcia’s camp and a change for the better.

How did Derrick James help Ryan Garcia?

Garcia is all praise for James and thinks he adds great value to his camp. Safe to say, the two get along quite well and it is evident from the results. In an interview, the 25-year-old stated, “So it’s much different now with Derek. Again great trainer and you know we’ve been working on a lot of great things and this is the sharpest I’ve been since 2020.”
