It overwhelmed surging super welterweight prospect Xandar Zayas after receiving words of praise and advice from the current P4P king Canelo Alvarez. It’s not every day, we see Alvarez praise the modern-era stars. However, the Mexican legend surely expressed love for Zayas, and that too after the 19-year-old have dreamed about beating him in-ring one day.

Xandar Zayas recently sat with Brian Custer and addressed several things about his career. Meanwhile, the undefeated star was also asked about Alvarez’s appraisal and Zayas showed all his respect to the undisputed super middleweight champion.

He said, “Man it felt amazing. He [Canelo Alvarez] is an inspiration, somebody I look up to. Somebody that I admire, you know my favorite boxer right now. To send me a message like that, let me know that I could be in his position one day, sending message to an upcoming fighter, somebody that admires me, somebody, that look up to me.”

12-0 as a professional, Zayas is just at the beginning of his career. With 9 KOs in 2 years, he is already showing A-listed features. The Puerto Rican-born fighter wants to be in a similar position to which Canelo Alvarez stands today. And for that, he wants to retire the P4P king.

Despite having so much respect for Alvarez, Zayas wants to avenge Miguel Cotto’s defeat and stand up for his motherland Puerto Rico. Alvarez vanquished Cotto back in 2015 via UD and the PuertoRican legend retired two years later. As Zayas saw his favorite boxer lose, he dreams of avenging it against his other hero in Canelo Alvarez.

To have a similar hold like Alvarez, Zayas also needs to become a star outside the ring. It will help him spin the biggest paydays and followed by that, he shall also keep his in-ring dominance, something Canelo Alvarez has done for over a decade. Alvarez is a four-division world champion and holds a record of 57 wins, 1 loss, and 2 draws. He has achieved all of it by the age of 31 and is still actively taking 3 fights every year.
