Dmitry Bivol is coming off the biggest victory of his career. The undefeated WBA lightweight champion outboxed the then-pound-for-pound Canelo Alvarez, whom many consider the face of boxing. The Russian stalwart pulled out the biggest upset of the year in dramatic fashion and became an overnight star. But unfortunately, the recent claims of the champion hinted at being fudge. He revealed shocking facts about the $5 million fight purse.
According to the 31-year-old, he did receive the guaranteed purse for delivering a historic display in the ring.

He told the TASS news agency, “I was willing to earn a lot less just to get this fight. I needed this fight, it was the No.1 task.”
“I think it’s very difficult [to be paid]. I haven’t faced this challenge yet because it hasn’t arrived yet. We are still thinking about how to do it. Notably, this was the biggest payday of Bivol’s career. Before the fight, the guaranteed purse of Bivol was $2 million. However, after adding pay-per-view numbers, Bivol was expected to get $5million for the Canelo Alvarez fight.
