The world awaits, a cult classic, a super fight, and the bout that made history as the richest fight. Oscar De La Hoya came face to face with ‘Pretty Boy,’ Floyd Mayweather at MGM Grand Arena. The mega-fight sparked a rivalry between the two boxing giants, which never really ended. Even back then, the narrative of the fight showed Oscar as the good guy taking on Mayweather, the bad guy. But was it really the action in the ring that started this bitter rivalry, or was it something else? Shane Mosley, a legend from the same era who also took on both fighters, sheds light on the matter.
Even after years preceding the legendary bout, Oscar did not stop throwing verbal jabs at Mayweather. Remember the time when Mayweather retired, and Oscar penned him a scathing farewell letter? He called Mayweather boring, according to an article from Time Magazine. Similar instances have followed since then. In a recent interview with The Art Of Dialogue, Shane Mosley introduced a different narrative to the question, why do ‘The Golden Boy’ and ‘Money’ hate each other? Mosley’s response didn’t just make sense – it also gave insights into the bigger picture of the Oscar-Mayweather feud.
