It should have been him fighting Tyson Fury on December 23 night. However, nobody can fight the forces of fate. New updates suggest that the highly anticipated clash between ‘The Gypsy King’ vs. Oleksandr Usyk will unfold on February 17. To compensate for the postponed Usyk vs. Fury fight, the organizers have put together a plethora of exciting clashes. It includes the likes of Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua. Unfortunately, they will be fighting separately and not against each other.

However, it begs the question–what does the Ukrainian heavyweight think about the fight card? In a recent turn of events, the undefeated Ukrainian pugilist described his thoughts on how the Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder fight will influence the sport of boxing. Where one might think the postponement might have left a bad taste in Usyk’s mouth, it can’t be the farthest from the truth. 

Oleksandr Usyk claims he hasn’t been following the news

While appearing in an interview with Sky Sports Boxing, the 21-0 world champion claimed he has not been keeping up with the happenings regarding the 23 December fight. However, he has got bits and pieces of information about the recently held press conference. “I’m not following the news within the last several weeks. But I saw some uh texts and messages in Instagram that the press conference took place,” said Usyk.

Then, he went on to describe his thoughts about the December 23 fight card. “These guys are fighting, and it’s great–it’s beautiful for our Sport,” said the Ukranian. Later in the interview, Usyk claimed he couldn’t predict who would come on top in the fights. However, he expressed his happiness about the Heavyweight division’s increasing influence. 

Deontay Wilder vs. Anthony Joshua is on?

While Wilder and Joshua might not fight each other on the 23 December card, they might fight each other in the following year. While appearing in an interview with 78 SPORTS TV, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ revealed about a recent conversation he had. According to his claim during the interview, boxing fans can finally rejoice. 

He began by suggesting that he and Hearn have had their differences. But Hearn told Wilder that if he and Joshua win their upcoming fights—their fight will be next. “Eddie was saying he talked to His Excellency – Hearn told me if we both win, the fight’s gonna be on,” said Wilder. He went on to express his excitement about finally facing Joshua. “So I’m looking forward to finally getting Joshua in the ring,” said Wilder. In the upcoming event, Wilder will square off against Jospeh Parker while Joshua will face Otto Wallin.
