Jake Paul and Tommy Fury came face to face back in February earlier this year. As many had expected, Fury took home the win via split decision. However, it’s worth noting that Jake performed well despite being an influencer boxer. He even scored a controversial knockdown against Tommy Fury, dropping him in the final round. Yet, it wasn’t enough for the ‘Problem Child’ to take home the win.

Even the event itself performed exceptionally well. The fight garnered 500,000 pay-per-views, resulting in a whopping $30 million purse for the YouTube boxer. Since his first career loss against Fury, fans have been speculating about who the boxer would face next. There are talks of Jake facing Matt Riddle, a recently released WWE star, but there is no solid evidence it would happen. However, it turns out that Jake is still not over the loss against Tommy Fury. During the latest Full Send podcast, Paul went into detail describing why he lost to Fury.

Nearing the end of the podcast, Jake started talking about the Tommy Fury fight. Paul explained that he knew he wasn’t focused before the Tommy fight, claiming he had been drinking regularly for seven weeks straight. “I knew I wasn’t focused going into the Tommy fight. I was like drinking like seven weeks before,” said Jake during the podcast.

Jake claimed he became the victim of overconfidence because of his prior wins against notable names. “You think like okay…Like no one’s really beat me or like giving me a crazy challenge,” Jake told Kyle Forgeard. Jake went on to explain, “It’s so stupid, and it sounds stupid, and it is stupid.” Moreover, he emphasized why he brought up the reason behind his loss to Tommy. “That’s why I’m saying it out loud. So that, like other people could learn from that and not f***ing do that.”

However, since his loss to Tommy Fury, Jake Paul is still competing. He recently fought and successfully defeated UFC champ Nate Diaz in August, this year. As of now, Paul is on the lookout for his next opponent and his choice, very shocking.

Jake challenges Canelo Alvarez

The Paul brothers have had a significant impact on the sport of boxing. Undeniably, they have brought new viewers to the sport, increasing its popularity. Not to mention, Logan Paul even fought the legendary Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition match. Jake Paul cited Logan’s achievement as the reason he challenged Canelo Alvarez.

Previously, Canelo appeared in the Full Send podcast, claiming he is not opposed to a potential fight against Jake. However, no one expected Jake to do what he did. On October 2, Jake tweeted a promotional poster of Canelo and him, suggesting he wants to fight the Mexican superstar. In the tweet, Jake asserted he wants to become “the greatest sports story ever.”

While the validity of Jake’s reason behind the loss to Tommy can not be disproven, a rematch would make for an extravagant spectacle. However, his going up against one of the greatest to ever grace the ring may be a grasp far beyond his reach. But it cannot be denied that when Jake Paul gets involved, drama comes with him and we love it all the same.
