‘It Started When I Was a Kid’: Billionaire Floyd Mayweather Has a Problem and He Might Be Losing Money!

Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather recently faced YouTube sensation Deji in an exhibition bout. This would be ‘Money’s’ fifth exhibition bout since retiring from the sport back in 2017, which has led many to wonder why he is still competing at the age of 45.

Mayweather is currently the richest boxer in the world. However, he is also one of the most spendthrift people in the world, buying luxury mansions and cars with his generational wealth. Moreover, this led his former rival Ricky Hatton to claim that ‘Money’ might be broke.

According to Hatton, Mayweather’s last bout with Deji was an unnecessary event that would not have been done if Mayweather actually had money. “I don’t get it. Indeed, he’s made enough money. Is he skint, or is it greed? “I think his latest YouTuber [Deji] has won one and lost three, something like that. I mean, come on. Who wants to watch that? It’s making a mockery of boxing.” He said. Another reason that ‘TBE’ might be broke is his issue with gambling, which has plagued him throughout his life.

Floyd Mayweather opens up about his gambling problem

In an interview with ESPN, Mayweather opened up about his gambling problem, which has been with him since his childhood.

“It started when I was a kid. When you and a friend can’t agree on something. You’re always competing against one another, always watching sports. [When it started off] It was little small betting. Like you’d bet lunch and dinner when you’re a kid. Or a candy bar or a bag of chips.” said Mayweather.

Moreover, he added that as he grew so did his betting addiction. He stated that with age and money his betting has only gotten worse. ”

But when you get a little bit older, a teenager, I bet you a dollar, two dollars. And then, once you get to the big-boy league, you become an adult. You get into sportsbook betting, and that’s how it all started for me” he added.

Although speculation, many have come out and claimed that Mayweather is broke, which is why he is still fighting. However, Mayweather has strongly clapped back on these claims and stated that he is more than well off financially.
