‘It Was Actually Him Who Tested Positive’ – Canelo Alvarez Claps Back at Billy Joe Saunders’ PEDs Remark

On May 8, Canelo Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders will finally come face to face against each other inside the squared circle. The duo will touch gloves with each other for a unified super-middleweight championship, and the winner will line himself up for an undisputed title shot.
This fight is unique in its own way as Alvarez and Saunders share a fierce rivalry with each other.
A few days back, the Brit accused the P4P boxing king of using PEDs in the form of clenbuterol. His comments reached Alvarez, and the Mexican boxer didn’t hold himself back from responding to his claims.

In an interview with Brian Custer, he said, “It was actually him who tested positive, twice actually. In my case, it was clenbuterol, the minimum, well, the content from the meat.
“Which has been proven that now there are minimum requirements for boxers. It was actually him who tested positive twice.”
Alvarez tested positive for consuming clenbuterol ahead of his rematch against Gennady Golovkin in 2018.
That said, in a buildup of this fight, Saunders saw it as an opportunity to fire at the 30-year-old for consuming the same. However, tables turned when Saul Alvarez himself took a jibe at ‘Superb’ for testing positive for failing two drug tests.
In 2018, ahead of his fight against Demetrius Andrade, Saunders tested positive for consuming oxilofrine. He competed in the middleweight category back then and subsequently had to vacate his titles for failing drug tests twice.
