Boxing legend Mike Tyson has lived a life filled with triumphs, controversies, and personal struggles. This is the reason why over the years, various attempts have been made to document the former champion’s journey, aiming to provide glimpses into the life he has led.

However, there has been one biopic that was marred with controversy and backlash from Tyson himself. Streaming service Hulu unveiled plans to produce a series centered around the life of Miike Tyson. However, it appears that the company did not obtain the necessary permissions or involve Tyson in the creative process, leading to his strong objections and public outbursts against the project. Moreover, almost a year after the series’ release, ‘Iron’ Mike has once again fired back at the show for their portrayal of his life.

Mike Tyson contradicts his portrayal in the Hulu biopic

In a recent episode of his podcast Hotboxin’, along with rapper Tony Yayo, Tyson claimed that the show had not shown the struggles of his life. According to him, the show was “fake” as the former champion was not involved in any of the creative processes and how he would be portrayed. “The one I saw on television, the last one had me looking good. It never showed how I really lived. It was bulls**t it was fake man,” said Tyson.

In previous documentaries and interviews, Tyson has allowed glimpses into the darker aspects of his life. He has also spoken openly about his battles with addiction, his time spent in prison, and the difficulties he faced outside the boxing ring. However, for him, the Hulu documentary was not able to put a light on these struggles. In addition, Tyson also slammed the streaming service for not paying him his share following the release of the series.

The time Mike Tyson slammed Hulu for not paying him

‘The Baddest Man On The Planet’ was not happy with the biopic and also slammed the streaming service for it. Back in 2022, Tyson took to social media and released a statement calling out the producers of the show for not paying him. Moreover, ‘Iron’ Mike even went as far as calling the service ‘slave masters’ who stole his story.

Don’t let Hulu fool you. I don’t support their story about my life. It’s not 1822. It’s 2022. They stole my life story and didn’t pay me. To Hulu executives, I’m just a n****r they can sell on the auction block,” the post read. “Hulu is the streaming version of the slave master. They stole my story and didn’t pay me,” the caption read.
