‘It Was Traumatic’- Charles Martin Gives His Honest Opinion on Deontay Wilder’s Performance Against Tyson Fury

Former Heavyweight Champion Charles Martin has spoken about his potential opponent, Deontay Wilder, and his loss that came at the hands of Tyson Fury.

The American boxer described the loss as ‘traumatic.’ He even addressed the accusations and the cornermen situation.

Martins was the heavyweight champion for all of 85 days, which is the second shortest in the sport’s history. However, the American has gone in on his potential next opponent and former champion Deontay Wilder.

Martin spoke to ‘Behind the Gloves’ and gave his take on the fight. “It was traumatic, you know. It was crazy. I wasn’t expecting that, and I’m pretty sure nobody was expecting that.

“He said his suit was too heavy and stuff like that, you know. All the other accusations and whatever, whatnot,” said Martin.

These comments showed that Fury surprised Martin by knocking him out; however, it also showed that Martin favored Wilder to win. All said and done, it is clear that the American does not agree with Wilder’s accusations and excuses for the loss.

One of Wilder’s rants was directed towards his former trainer Mark Breland for throwing in the towel. The entire boxing community ridiculed the former champion for it. And now, Martin also had his say.

He admitted that despite the defeat, at least Wilder got to go out on his shield since it was his coaches who threw in the towel.

However, he admitted, “His corner threw in the towel, which I say personally is a good idea because sometimes it ain’t worth it. It just ain’t worth it.”

These comments showed the American’s true opinions on ‘The Bronze Bomber’. Recent rumors suggest the two will fight each other in what will mark the comeback fights for both. However, nothing seems to have materialized yet.
