Does Bivol have what it takes to beat Canelo Alvarez?

The undefeated Bivol boasts a spotless fight record. However, it will be near impossible to maintain that streak when he comes up against ‘The Cinnamon’.

Former rival Callum Smith, who tasted defeat at the hands of Canelo, believes that Bivol has an “underrated boxing ability,” and can cause an upset on May 7th. He states, “I think Bivol’s a lot better than what people are giving him credit for. He’s not. He’s not the most exciting, but he’s very good at what he does. He always seems to just enough to get the win.”

Smith’s comments hold some weight as he has been through what Bivol is about to go through. The 32-year-old faced Canelo in December 2020. However, things didn’t exactly go the British boxer’s way as he succumbed to the Mexican’s pressure.

Canelo went on to deliver a masterclass on boxing as he defeated Smith via a decision to become the unified super middleweight champion. Hence, Smith knows what he’s talking about.
