The WBO super-middleweight champ, Billy Joe Saunders, is gearing up for the toughest test of his life. He will battle-out the pound-for-pound king of boxing, Canelo Alvarez, in a massive title-unification fight on May 8. But it seems the Brit over pushed himself and succumbed to primal flu while in preparations for this fight.

Recently his trainer, Mark Tibbs, shed some light on ‘Superb’s health and his progress.

Speaking to SecondsOut, he said:

It’s a shame that someone has caught the flu the other day. I’m gutted about that. But it happens. It won’t beat us we’ve got all the, he’s got the right medication and we’re getting through it and there’s gonna be no excuses.”

Although Tibbs seemed disheartened by Saunders falling ill, he still assured fans that his fighter would get back on track with no excuses.
