The WBO super-middleweight champ, Billy Joe Saunders, is gearing up for the toughest test of his life. He will battle-out the pound-for-pound king of boxing, Canelo Alvarez, in a massive title-unification fight on May 8. But it seems the Brit over pushed himself and succumbed to primal flu while in preparations for this fight.
Recently his trainer, Mark Tibbs, shed some light on ‘Superb’s health and his progress.

Speaking to SecondsOut, he said:
“It’s a shame that someone has caught the flu the other day. I’m gutted about that. But it happens. It won’t beat us we’ve got all the, he’s got the right medication and we’re getting through it and there’s gonna be no excuses.”

Although Tibbs seemed disheartened by Saunders falling ill, he still assured fans that his fighter would get back on track with no excuses.
The undefeated Saunders is ecstatic to become the undisputed king of super-middleweights. However, he’ll have to vanquish the Mexican pugilist to realize his ultimate dream.
Furthermore, Saunders doesn’t wish to budge an inch from his aim and wants to hand Alvarez his second loss. To achieve this win over the face of boxing, he has already immersed himself in rigorous workout sessions.

Can Billy Joe Saunders upset Canelo Alvarez?
Billy Joe Saunders has fought 30 pro-boxers and defeated all of them. Though he has been through some challenging opponents in his run, he has never faced someone like Saul Alvarez.

Alvarez presents a stern challenge to all his opponents and he’ll look to do the same with ‘Superb’. But Saunders is supremely confident of pulling out a magnetic win in this battle. As rugged as it seems, this bout is equally rewarding for both Saunders and Alvarez.
The winner of this bout will directly set himself up for an undisputed title fight with the IBF champ, Caleb Plant.
From hereon, it will be intriguing to see how Saunders approaches this fight following his illness. His fans will be eager to see him give his best shot in the biggest, perhaps the most important fight of his career.
