A 2019 list of Fox sports recently came to light again when a Spanish boxing page named “El Campanazo de Joe” shared it. The boxing world was left incredulous and appalled when a recent list by Fox Sports ranked Floyd Mayweather as the ultimate all-time boxer. In doing so, they snubbed the legendary Muhammad Ali.

For many, the decision to crown Mayweather as the greatest of all time is nothing short of an insult to the legacy of Muhammad Ali. Ali, known for his electrifying personality and dynamic fighting style, he was a true icon of the sport and transcended boxing to become a cultural figure of immense influence. He was a three-time world heavyweight champion, Olympic gold medalist, and an outspoken civil rights activist.

On the other hand, Floyd Mayweather is considered by many to be one of the best defensive fighters of all time. He retired with an undefeated record of 50 wins and 0 losses and won world titles in five weight divisions. However, despite his impressive record, his defensive fighting style was often criticized for being unentertaining and lacking in action.

Muhammad Ali being snubbed for Mayweather shocked fans

The omission of Muhammad Ali from the top spot on the list has led to widespread criticism and disbelief, with many questioning the credibility of the rankings. Many even argued that Sugar Ray is the best, and Ali said that countless times.  Let us look at some of the comments which are translated via Facebook translate.

One fan named Sader Davis wrote, “We can all make our list of favorites, but they have to show consistency. Mayweather wasn’t a boxer to place first on the all-time roster. Too much responsibility for a boxer who didn’t hit and run for an entire fight.”

Juan Arroyo said “Get Pretty Boy from the top– its an insult-‘….he was a cherry picker– Connor Mc Gregor and Paul were not in the ranking and he was lucky that Pacquiao was sidelined– denied pain shot for his shoulders….after the fight he had surgery…too much money involved to postpone the fight. Mayweather overqualified…too much bragging and b s talk..”

Some other fans are giving out their own lists

Jose Antonio Robles Gozalez wrote “Very biased. In my opinion, Ali would be in first place after Chavez. Sugar Ray Leonard then Pacquiao would follow Man Stone Duran Maywater then the rest Cheers big Joe.”

While Ivan Ramirez Perez believes that the list should be:

1. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

2. Ali

3. Sugar Ray

4. Manny Pacquiao

5. Julius Cesar Chavez.

6. Bernard Hopkins.

7. During the time”

Some fan is wondering about other legendary boxers who deserve to be on the list, one of them wrote “That list shows total ignorance of boxing history, where are Henry Armstrong, Harry Greb, Ezzard Charles, Ike Williams and so many more…? from this list only Moore, Robinson and Ali enter a top ten.”

Who is the real GOAT, really?

It is important to note that the ranking of the greatest boxers of all time is subjective and open to interpretation. While some may prefer Mayweather’s defensive style and perfect record, others may argue that Ali’s charisma, influence, and style of fighting make him the clear winner. Mayweather, who is still fighting exhibition matches, had a record of 50 wins with only 27 knockouts.

Another important thing to note is Ali’s achievements in and out of the ring, along with his impact on the sport of boxing and popular culture. These factors make it difficult to argue against his status as the greatest of all time.

Furthermore, the impact that Ali had on society and culture cannot be underestimated. He used his platform to speak out against the Vietnam War and for civil rights, and his legacy continues to inspire generations. His fights were more than just boxing matches; they were cultural events that captivated audiences around the world.
