2021 was a decorated year for many boxing biggies, except for Anthony Joshua. The Briton fought only once, and he lost all his hard-earned heavyweight titles to Oleksandr Usyk. For all the reasons, Joshua was a favorite to win the fight, but nothing went in his favor on fight night.
Since then, the only thing ‘AJ’ is bothered about is a rematch with Usyk. Also, this rematch is predominantly a make-or-break outing for the big man.
Recently, his promoter, Eddie Hearn, was in a chat with talkSPORT Boxing. Here, he opened up on Joshua’s state after a loss to ‘The Cat’.

“He is a throwback fighter, and he wants to just challenge himself all the time. And it’s been eating him up, that defeat. Really eating him up.”
“You know the Ruiz one, like I said. He could look at the preparation, things that went wrong, and kind of blame that, but this time he was good. You know he just got beaten by the better man on the night, and I think that probably aggravates him more than anything.” he said.
Back in 2019, Anthony Joshua was in a similar situation against Andy Ruiz Jr. After losing the first fight, the ex-champ was under immense pressure.

But displaying a tactical approach in the rematch, Joshua triumphed over the ‘Destroyer’. Now the clock has again turned for ‘AJ’ and he’s unquestionably in a vulnerable spot. If Joshua wins, he will regain his spot, but if he loses, the Brit will be out of the title race and top heavyweights list.

Can Anthony Joshua vanquish Oleksandr Usyk in the rematch?
In the rematch, Joshua will have to be cautious and come in with a tactical approach yet again.

He will be a heavy underdog in the rematch, and there’ll be massive pressure on him. Yet, the 32-year-old will have to stay calm and composed throughout the rematch.
