“It’s Eerie” – Adam Smith Describes Deontay Wilder’s Freakish Power

Sky Sports boxing head Adam Smith gave an interview recently, where he talked about the unified heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua and the WBC, lineal, and the Ring heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury. While talking about Fury, he mentioned his fight with the former WBC champ Deontay Wilder, and the latter’s knockout power.

He said, “[Deontay] Wilder, you know, you don’t what to think, do you? You know Fury should go in there and beat him up again or outbox him. Listen, don’t forget Deontay Wilder had him almost seeing stars in that first fight in the end of it. How he got up from that. He’s got power unbelievable freakish power.

“And believe you me, I’ve been in the front row at ringside seeing that power hands on and he hits like you know pound-for-pound… He reminds of Tommy Hearns’ sort of power. And he doesn’t look like he’s got it, but those levers at the wrists.

“And I just think that power is freakish. You know when he knocked out Luis Ortiz, when he knocked out Dominic Breazeale, it was scary being there, it’s eerie.

“Tyson Fury, I thought he was gonna outbox him and he went in and did what the you know, ‘The Kronk’ setup told him to do. What SugarHill, what Andy Lee said was gonna happen.”

Why should we look forward to the third bout between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder?

As Smith said, Wilder’s power will definitely play a big role going into this bout. Although Tyson Fury (31-0, 21 KOs) won their last contest by stopping Wilder, it cannot be said for sure that the same will happen in their third bout.

And while we’re aware of the power Deontay Wilder (43-1, 41 KOs) possesses, Fury is unusually quick for a heavyweight. His elusive head movement, despite his massive 6-foot-9 frame, has drawn comparisons from the legendary Muhammad Ali.

As of now, Fury is back in training with his coach from his last fight, “Sugar” Hill Steward. Wilder, on the other hand, is training with football players to improve his conditioning. It’s just a matter of time before the trilogy is announced.
