The welterweight sensation, Vergil Ortiz Jr., who was in an exclusive interaction with Little Giant Boxing, spoke on the entire prevailing scenario of Spence Jr.’s injury and Pacquiao vs Ugas’ bout.

“Yes, I mean, it sucks that Errol’s not gonna fight. Hope he recovers pretty good. Ugas vs Pacquiao’s gonna be a good fight. I don’t know, its kind of weird because they stripped Pacquiao and gave it to Ugas. And now we got this fight, Pacquiao. It’s kind of weird, you know,” he said.

‘Pacman’ took his last fight in 2019, wherein he defended his WBA welterweight belt against Keith Thurman. Later, as he had to surrender his belt because of inactivity, the WBA put it on Ugas. That said, the Filipino Senator will now battle Ugas for the belt he never lost.

Despite the Pacquiao vs Ugas matchup looking exuberant, the fans still wished to see the veteran go up against Spence Jr. More than the belts, a fight between these two would have been for the legacy. Also, a true welterweight great would have emerged if Pacquiao and ‘The Truth’ fought each other.
