The WBO Welterweight Champion, Terence Crawford had a successful lopsided win against Kell Brook in his recent title defense on November 14. He looked sharp throughout the fight and took out his opponent in Round 4 by way of TKO.

It was clearly Crawford’s night, and it was almost impossible for boxing fans to notch Kell Brook’s performance as anything more than lackluster. However, the Brit’s former trainer still applauded him, suggesting that he revive his boxing journey afresh.

Being the former World Champion, Brook has seen several glory days in his professional career and has a record of 39 wins with 3 losses. But he has been unsuccessful on the big nights.

Having faced 3 losses against Gennady Golovkin, Errol Spence Jr., and Terence Crawford, these were Brook’s grandest events. After his latest defeat against ‘Bud’, Kell Brook has accepted the loss and has also hinted at retirement.

Meanwhile, veteran trainer Dominic Igle believes that Brook needs to get in the right team, before going for the bigger fights.

He recently spoke with IFL TV to discuss his former trainee’s loss and said, “Going into that fight and doing it himself more or less. It doesn’t matter what people say, For those types of fights, you have got to have the right team around you.

“It’s no good people pumping you up and telling you what you want to hear and calling you champ. That’s nothing. It’s just always what’s happening in the training camps.”

Despite that, Igle still hailed ‘Special K’ for his courage to go against Crawford. What’s more, he also suggested how to get back the flow in his journey.

There’s some interesting in Kell Brook against Terence Crawford

Igle has pointed at Brook’s losses to replicate how different he is. He has spotted something alluring element in the Brit’s performance too.

Talking about it, Igle said, “Look at the fights he had with Errol Spence and Gennady Golovkin. He only lost to the top guys, but he was always competitive in those fights.

“Last night (against Crawford) he looked good for two rounds. He looked sharp, and he didn’t really get hit. But you have to understand that Terence came in with his non-preferred style at orthodox, whether that was to throw Kell off.”

He then praised Crawford’s in-ring effort and analyzed how exactly ‘Bud’ got hold of Brook. As per Igle, Brook didn’t see the punch coming, and that’s why he got caught. However, the boxing trainer didn’t take any credits from the champion.

He said, “He knocks a lot of people with the same shot. It’s a bit ironic, really. If you look at the slow-motion clip, he didn’t even blink and didn’t even move his head. The shot was well-timed, but Kell didn’t’ see it coming.”

He added, “How often do you see Kell stumble halfway across the ring to the ropes? If you look at the times he got caught by Golovkin and Senchenko.

“He got caught the shot, buzzed a bit, and then righted himself and had a clear vision of the opponent in front of him.”

That said, he believes that ‘Special K’ has the kind of courage that many in the division lack. He doesn’t fear going against the best, and it’s worth hailing. Thus, Igle still envisions a radiating future for him.
