Floyd Mayweather was not just any regular boxer. The 50-0 fighter accomplished unprecedented accolades both inside and outside the ring. He was one of the first-ever boxers to fight under his own promotion. This business-savvy approach of his assisted him to become the richest boxer of all time. The undefeated boxer started his promotion, “Mayweather Promotions” in the year 2007.
Gervonta Davis, Badou Jack, and Viddal Riley are a few such boxers who have been associated with Mayweather promotions in the past. However, on the contrary, MMA veteran, Chael Sonnen made a video on his YouTube channel claiming that the promotion is not “real”.

Chael Sonnen thinks Mayweather’s promotion is not real
Sonnen is a former UFC and Bellator fighter who competed in the middleweight and light-heavyweight divisions. The former fighter retired in the year 2019 but is still associated with the sport. On his YouTube channel, he gives his takes and thoughts on contemporary matters pertaining to combat sports.
In a recent video, Sonnen gave his take on Mayweather’s promotion. He stated, “The money team, they don’t have distributions, they don’t have partners, they don’t have televisions.”
He adds, “It is what Floyd doing, he started with the Money team that is not real. Nobody is gonna check on them because it is not real. Now he moved it over to Mayweather promotions? Ok but what comes next man?”
One might agree or disagree with what Sonnen claims but it is evident that he does not shy away from speaking his mind.

Chael Sonnen claims that Mayweather never got more than $100 million for a fight
It is reported that Mayweather is the richest boxer of all time with a net worth of over a billion dollars. However, Sonnen on a podcast claimed that the boxer has never made close to or more than $100 million for a fight. He stated, “You’ll see reports like you mentioned 100 million for Floyd. The reports are 130. First off, he never got $1oo million for a fight and is not even remotely close. but there is a report of 130, there are reports online that Floyd’s a billionaire.”
