Speaking on the show FirstTake, Smith said, “From my understanding, I think he [Jake] is the guy that is more popular because of what he did to Nate, who Floyd knows… So seeing what happened to Nate Robinson was a not a good thing. And Floyd was very encouraging on social media to Nate Robinson, giving him a lot of props for being brave enough to step in that squared circle, and I appreciate that from Floyd.”

So clearly the American isn’t against the idea of Floyd fighting a YouTuber. However, he feels he is fighting the wrong one.

He explained, “But I’m just saying when I think about Floyd… First of all, it’s the wrong Paul; if he’s going to fight either one of them, it’s the wrong Paul that he’s fighting. Because Jake is the rage right now, as opposed to Logan.”

Why isn’t Floyd Mayweather fighting Jake Paul?

Stephen A. Smith does have a valid point in this case. Jake Paul is a much bigger fish and is ever-present in the headlines. His devastating knockout of Nate Robinson showed that he can box a fair bit. However, the younger of the Pauls has his eyes set on other opponents. He has been calling out MMA stars to enter the ring.

This is probably because Jake Paul knows he has a better chance of beating someone who has never boxed before rather than a legend of the sport. This is why he has refrained from calling out Mayweather.

Logan Paul was the only one to offer a fight to Floyd Mayweather. And as fans will know, ‘Money Mayweather’ will never pass off on an opportunity like this.
