‘It’s Tragedy…’: Boxing World Reacts to Final Verdict on Tyson Fury’s Retirement

Tyson Fury announced his retirement on Saturday night after clinching a stunning victory over Dillian Whyte. The news of the retirement of the greatest technician of this generation caught the attention of the boxing world, and they reacted to it.
In the post-fight talk, the British star announced he was bidding adieu to his professional career. The 33-year-old said, “I promised my lovely wife Paris for 14 years that after the Wilder three-fight, that would end and I meant it.”

The news broke out and became a buzz. But Fury’s promoter, Bob Arum, refused to agree with it.
Talking to the USA Today, he said, “No, he definitely won’t retire. Of course not. Are you crazy?”
Interestingly, when Michael Benson of talkSPORT reported it on Twitter, it caught boxing fans’ attention. They took to add their opinion to it.
A Twitter user wrote, “It’s tragedy if we cannot watch Gypsy King’s fight anymore! I’m eager for Usyk vs Fury than AJ!”

Undoubtedly, it’s a tragedy for the boxing universe. The Greatest heavyweight of this generation who showcased his art for decades will not compete in white-collar matches.
Few more fans reacted to it. Probably, all of them speculated that if ‘The Gypsy King’ wants, he can fight for a few more years.
He’s looking sharper than he ever has. Heavyweights can sometimes go into their 40s before dropping off, and he’s got at least 5 more years before we start to see his performance dip.

Probably, the reason that Bob Arum made such a big claim was that Fury had announced his retirement several times before but eventually stepped inside the ring.
