Devin Haney says he has been getting a lot of hate

“Yea. A lot. Anybody that knows me. You know me. I’m not racist and I didn’t mean it in that kind of way. You know whatsoever. I’ve been getting a lot of hate. Like crazy messages, death threats. All kinds of stuff. But you know at the end of the day that was not my intent. And I just want to fight the best at the end of the day.”

The former WBC Champion landed in hot soup with his comments on 78SPORTSTV. In response to a fan hoping he would “end the hype of Loma (Vasiliy Lomachenko).” He said, “I’ll tell you this. I will never lose to a white boy in my life. I don’t care what nobody got to say. Fight a white boy 10 times, I’m going to beat him 10 times.”

Following the backlash ‘The Dream’ took to Twitter confirming that his comment was misinterpreted.

Later, he even apologized for the same and said he learned a valuable lesson.

‘The Dream’ said he had a positive conversation with WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman. Here he directly confirmed to him his “commitment to be a role model and my absolute rejection of discrimination of ant kind.”

The undefeated lightweight suffered a shoulder injury in his last fight. He was Champion in recess for four months before being reinstated as the full Lightweight titleholder. ‘The Dream’ will make a voluntary title defense.

If he wins he will face the winner of the Javier Fortuna vs Luke Campbell bout. Earlier, the duo was set to fight for the full title but now will slug it out for an interim title.

Who do you think will win the bout and warn the right to box against ‘The Dream?”
