It has been almost a month since the infamous Academy Awards incident involving Will Smith and Chris Rock. However, the incident has been unearthing multiple skeletons from the past. A tweet from 2011 revealed advice that Jada Pinkett Smith gave to her son, Jaden Smith.

Jaden made the tweet after watching a boxing match. He mentioned that his mother advised him to protect himself at all times. Moreover, in the hashtag, Smith further added that he was scared.

Smith had previously trained in martial arts with a member of Jackie Chan’s stunt team for the movie ‘The Karate Kid’.

Jaden Smith’s boxing match

Jaden Smith is no stranger when it comes to boxing on screen. Notably, Smith got into a boxing match with co-star Khamani Griffin for the sitcom, ‘All of Us‘.

Smith, then aged 5, was playing a character called Reggie. Griffin’s character, Robert James Jr. challenges Smith to a boxing match.

However, Smith emerges victorious in the bout, which ends with Griffin receiving a black eye.

When Will Smith challenged Mike Tyson

Jaden’s father, Will Smith, released a single called ‘I think I can beat Mike Tyson’ in 1989.

The single was a part of the third studio album ‘And in this corner’ by Smith’s hip hop partnership with Jeff Townes called ‘DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince’.

The video begins with Smith calling boxing promoter Don King to set up a boxing match where he faces the then unified heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson.

Comedian Chris Rock is seen training Smith to face Tyson.

However, Smith is unsuccessful in his endeavor. He is defeated by Tyson with an unforgiving barrage of punches, which leaves him with a heavily battered face.

What went down at the Oscars?

Chris Rock was on the Oscars stage to present the award for ‘The Best Documentary Feature’. He was also joking with the audience members.

Jada Pinkett Smith had sported a buzzed hairdo at the event, owning to her alopecia. Rock made a comment about her hairdo, comparing her to Demi Smith’s hairdo in G.I. Jane.

Smith, who was initially seen laughing, later walked on stage and smacked Rock across the face. The incident shocked both the audience members and fans alike.
