The 22-2 boxer spoke to FightHype.com on YouTube and revealed his opinion on the two fighting. He said, “Right now, Jake Paul is knocking everyone out, you know what I mean? So, I mean, like I said, I’m not one of the fighters that knock it cause they’re YouTubers or whatever you want to call them.”

This comment showed Herring is not like the others fighters and traditional boxing fans who have criticized the event. In addition, he gave his prediction for the fight. “But, I mean, if you asked me my prediction, I mean, Jake Paul is a big dude. So, he may potentially get the knockout again,” said Herring.

Why will these comments from Jamel Herring raise a few eyebrows?

The American champion made no secret of his admiration for the work Paul has done in the short while he has been in the sport. In addition, he also revealed he was not against the event just because Paul is a YouTuber. So why will this be surprising?

The Paul vs. Askren event has faced immense criticism solely because of the amount the fighters will earn. Despite having little to no boxing experience, both fighters will make a fortune from this event, and much more than another professional boxer with a similar record.

Therefore, for Herring, a 35-year-old champion, fans would have expected him to have a traditional outlook and be against the event which will also feature musical performances and a celebrity commentary team.

However, Herring is clearly judging the card solely on the fighters’ ability and gave his prediction for the fight.

What do you think about these comments from Jamel Herring? Do you think the champion is right with his prediction?
