

The world of hip hop braced itself for yet another loss on September 12, 2022. Rapper and singer, Rakim Hasheem Allen AKA PnB Rock, was fatally shot after being robbed. The heartbreaking incident also evoked a response from multiple notable names in boxing.

Rock was dining with his girlfriend, Steph Sibounheuang, at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles restaurant in Los Angeles. This was when an armed assailant showed up and robbed him. However, the robbery soon took a turn for the worst, and Rock was shot several times by the assailant.
Rock was pronounced dead on his way to the hospital at 1:59 p.m, nearly 45 minutes after the attack.

It was reported that the attack was specifically targeted at Rock. And, Sibounheuang, who is very active on Instagram, had posted a geotagged picture of her meal.

Sources say that the picture was later deleted after the incident.

The boxing world reacts to PnB Rock’s death
The boxing world was shocked to hear the news of PnB Rock’s death. In fact, many notable names in the sport took to social media to share their thoughts on the heartbreaking incident.

Former IBO super-middleweight title holder, Chris Eubank Jr; was one of the first ones to slam the killing of Rock. In a tweet, he paid tribute to the late rapper, while also talking about the death of young artists of African descent.

Its so crazy how we’re living in a society where its normal for young black artists to die every year all year round. This doesn’t happen in any other culture!! White, Asian, Indian, Latin… no other culture has established artists getting killed like this!! WHY US?? RIP PnB Rock

He mentioned that it was a sad state where society has normalized the regular murders of young artists of African descent. Eubank Jr. also mentioned that such murders do not take place in any other community.

YouTuber-turned-boxer, Jake Paul, was also quick to slam the senseless killing of the young star. In fact, he even compared it to the murder of rapper, Pop Smoke, who was killed in a botched robbery at an AirBnb in 2020.
It should also be noted that Pop Smoke’s death was also eerily similar, as his address was also accidentally leaked in an image on social media.
