For those blissfully unaware of the magnetic force that is Jutta Monica Leerdam, other than the obvious one, as the leading lady in Jake Paul‘s life, she can definitely hold her own. The Dutch speed skater from Gravenzande, Netherlands known for her active involvement in sprint events. She is also now the 6x world champion.

All eyes were on Jutta as Paul and her first made their appearance in public together. Fans and pundits are more curious than ever to know all about the woman who stole ‘The Problem Child’s heart. Moreover, as claimed by him, his speed skating champion girlfriend is the first woman he has dated who fits his career and passion incredibly well.

The genesis of Jutta Leerdam

Born on December 30, 1998, the 24-year-old Leerdam’s journey began on the rinks at the age of 11. Her father, a devoted fan of German windsurfer Jutta Muller, bestowed upon her a name that would become synonymous with victory and determination. Little did he know, his daughter would become a five-time national speed skating champion, conquering the ice with unparalleled skill. Raised a Christian, Leerdam shaped up to be quite the worldly woman, with fluency in languages like German, English, and of course her native, Dutch.

After spending eight years playing hockey as a child, Jutta discovered her true calling on the ice. Despite enjoying hockey, she realized it wasn’t the sport for her due to a preference for individual aspects over team dynamics.

She became the junior world champion in speed skating in 2017 and turned professional the next year. Jutta’s amazing journey includes winning world titles in 1000 m in 2020 and 2023, taking the silver in the 2022 Winter Olympics, and becoming the world champion in the 2022 World Sprint. Her fellow athletes, among them Olympian Koen Verweij and ex-beau see her success as the starting point of what they call a formidable force.

A Rising Star

Born into a middle-class household, Leerdam’s early years were shaped by the guidance of her mother, fostering a love for sports that her father had always envisioned. Her journey into professional speed skating began in the 2016–17 season when, at the age of 17, she entered regional, national, and international competitions. However, from interviews, Leerdam mentioned that she started Speed Skating at the age of 4.

Her career took a peak when she became the junior world champion at the 2017 World Junior Championships in Helsinki, Finland. One year later, she came in second place at the 2018 Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah. Leerdam’s skyrocketing continued as she won the 1000-meter and 1500-meter events at the ISU Junior World Cup in the 2017–18 season.

She went to Team IKO in 2018, and this marked her takeover of the international speed skating arena. She won gold in both the 500- and 1000-meter races at the Dutch Sprint Championships 2018/19, leaving her prowess on the ice unquestionable. In 2020, she became the best in the world single distances speed skating championships among women’s 1000m.

She won silver and gold at the KNSB Dutch Single Distance Championships for the races of 500 and 1000 meters respectively in 2021. Finally, she reached the peak when she effortlessly skated for the silver medal in the women’s 1000-meter event, at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. Leerdam was now a global phenomenon of her prowess and endurance.

Speculation initially arose earlier last year about a potential romantic connection between the Dutch speed skater and the influencer-turned-boxer. The rumors gained momentum when observers witnessed them displaying public affection during a romantic evening in Miami, Florida.

Subsequently, they made their relationship Instagram official, and the two have been posting wholesome pictures and being present at each other’s major events as well. Furthermore, Paul has been attempting to learn Leerdam’s native tongue, often calling her Schatje, which means “babe” in Dutch.

Educated, Empowered, and Enduring

Jutta Leerdam’s personal life brings another dimension to her fascinating life. She studied marketing and commercial economics at Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen, the Netherlands. Her career was blossoming while she was still embracing her studies. Her commitment to education echoed her dedication on ice to a degree surpassing the skating rinks.

From Medals to Millions

Indeed, Leerdam’s success on the ice extended beyond sports, making it her brand. At the beginning of her career as well as endorsement deals resulted in an estimated net worth of $500k to US $1 million.  Each competition, whether it be the Dutch Championships, the European Championships, or the World Championships, brought not just medals but a substantial income ranging from $20,000 to $50,000.

Now, Jutta boasts of being one of the richest Speed Skaters in the Netherlands, with a net worth of $5 million. Moreover, she garnered partnerships with various fashion houses, namely, Hugo Boss.
