It turns out there was a good reason behind the loss Jake Paul suffered against Tommy Fury back in February last year. Paul’s business partner Nakisa Bidarian and trainer BJ Flores have revealed that ‘The Problem Child’ was actually very sick and weight drained before his fight against Fury in Dubai.
Paul has two fights lined up for him against Mike Perry on July 20th and Mike Tyson November 15th, respectively! Yet when his business partner appeared in an interview with Ariel Helwani in the MMA Hour today, the conversation quickly veered towards Paul’s fight against Fury and the previously unknown reason behind his loss.

Nakisa Bidarian believes Jake Paul should never have fought Tommy Fury
During his conversation with Bidarian about Paul’s sole loss, Helwani inquired whether a rematch might be on the cards once the Perry and Tyson bouts conclude. In response, it didn’t take long for Bidarian to state, “I don’t think it’s a focus for Jake, there’s much bigger fights he focused on”. Yet when probed further, Bidarian revealed that Paul does want to face Fury again at some point to avenge his loss.
Later in the interview, Helwani brought up an interesting question, asking which fight Bidarian fancies more: Tommy Fury or KSI? If fans are asked this question, the obvious answer would be KSI because of the long-drawn rivalry between them. Not to mention the various failed negotiations between them, but Bidarian doesn’t feel the same way! He said, “100% Fury”.

Shocked by this answer, Helwani probed further, just for Bidarian to say, “Of course, that really is the legacy because that was the first young boxer he faced”. Revealing he would go to Puerto Rico in a week to support Paul, Bidarian suggested that the Fury fight was the only instance when he wasn’t there to support Paul, adding, “I believe to this day, he shouldn’t have fought that fight”.
When asked why, Bidarian said, “He was very sick”, while claiming Paul found out he was allergic to dust and since the fight and the training camp was in Dubai, it didn’t help. Bidarian went as far as to claim, “He definitely was drained weight wise that’s why he didn’t have the same energy”. Meanwhile, even Paul’s trainer quickly joined the fray to support Bidarian’s statements.

Paul was almost pulled out of the fight
Despite losing the fight, Paul did quite well against Tommy Fury, who is a professional boxer, unlike Paul, who often gets criticized for that. ‘The Problem Child’ went as far as to score a knockdown in the eighth round of the fight. However, after a neck-to-neck battle in the right-round clash, Fury was given a split decision win.
100% agree.
We almost pullled Jake out 3 weeks before due to illness/allergia.

In the aftermath of this fight, many spoke about how close the bout was and speculated a rematch must be afoot. Regardless, recollecting the days leading up to this matchup, Flores agreed with Bidarian, writing, “100% agree. We almost pulled Jake out 3 weeks before due to illness/allergia”. He even added that Paul had vehemently refused to postpone the fight, but the entire training camp in Dubai was difficult.
With that said, this new revelation changes everything, and now, a rematch between Jake Paul and Tyson Fury makes even more sense. Despite that, as Bidarian said, Jake Paul is focused on bigger fights, so a rematch could be far away in the future. But what do you think about it? Should Palu fight Fury again?
