The Jake Paul vs. Gervonta “Tank” Davis spectacle was already treading a fine line between circus and sport, but the most recent press conference took it much farther. What should have been a straightforward promotion turned into glove arguments, verbal jabs, and misunderstandings, leaving many wondering who was truly in command on Davis’ side. One person who clearly had had enough was Jake’s father, Gregory Allan Paul.

Gregory, never shy about speaking his mind, went off on Tank’s camp in a video posted online. His main issue? The chaotic discussion over glove sizes. Calvin Ford, Tank’s coach, insisted that Gervonta Davis wear his regular thinner gloves while Jake Paul wore thicker ones, which Gregory found ludicrous. He saw Davis’ team’s constant flip-flopping as evidence of a lack of preparation and direction.

“Trying to have a conversation with him, it’s worse than talking to a third grader,” Gregory snapped, referring to Davis’ failure to articulate his ideas during the press conference. He did not stop there. “And then his team doesn’t even know what the f— they’re talking about,” he added, laughing at their request for “8 or 10-ounce quads, blah, blah.”

For Jake Paul‘s dad, the contradiction was laughable: “Jake’s like, that was your guys’ team.” Gregory’s complaint became even more heated as he pointed fingers at Davis’ manager, who looked to be unaware of the glove negotiations. “Well, I didn’t know about it,” the manager allegedly stated, leading Gregory Paul’s outraged retort: “What the f— do you guys do?”

To him, the entire episode proved why boxing fans should be glad for Jake Paul’s participation in the sport. “The boxing community should be thanking the fact that there’s somebody with some brains representing the future of boxing. Thank you, Jake.” He closed with a blunt dismissal, calling Tank a “f—— r—–” and signing off with a sarcastic “Peace out.”

Whether fans see the father’s tirade as appropriate truth-telling or just another layer of farce depends on their position in this odd contest. What is clear is that the buildup to the fight has become more about spectacle than actual competitiveness, with enormous weight differences and grown men squabbling over glove ounces.

And if the fathers and trainers are as pumped up before fight night, the chaos inside the ring may not even be the most exciting part of the entire event. In fact, Jake Paul is making things even more bizarre, as he recently shared a video on the internet that surely caught everyone’s attention.

Jake Paul shares an AI video kissing Gervonta Davis

Jake Paul showed that he always has another card up his sleeve, just when the press conference chaos appeared to be at its peak of absurdity. Instead of sticking to the normal trash talk and physical shoving matches, the 28-year-old went online and surprised fans with a bizarre marketing stunt that instantly hijacked the conversation.

On September 23, the YouTuber-turned-boxer shared an AI-generated video of himself and Davis kissing during their face-off. “They can never make me hate you spanky tanky 🥹,” he captioned it on X, while Instagram got the softer version: “Send to your lover ❤️ … No matter what they say I’ll always love you spanky tanky <3.”

The delivery was half sarcasm, half love parody, and totally intended to generate clicks. Within hours, the video went viral, gaining over 100,000 likes on Instagram and more than 1.4 million views on X. The video, of course, wasn’t fooling anybody. But that wasn’t the point.

‘The Problem Child’ realizes that every strange antic makes the fight harder to ignore, even for those who believe it shouldn’t exist in the first place. With press conferences turning into clown shows and AI romance clips added to the mix, the buildup to November 14 feels less like a traditional boxing promotion and more like a carnival in which Jake Paul insists on running from center stage.
