After a hand injury, ‘The Jackal’ Carl Frampton pulled out of his title fight against ‘Semper Fi’ Jamel Herring on February 27. Hence, the date of the fight was changed, but with recent reports, it looks like the fight will have a new location as well.

The Top Rank CEO has two dates in mind- March 27 and April 3. Moreover, the fight might get moved to Dubai for the tentative dates.

As Frampton hasn’t suffered a major injury, a month is just ideal for his recovery. This is principally why Arum is keen on booking this fight as early as he can, as both boxers will not have to take a break from training and can remain in shape and focus on their weight cuts.

Speaking with Sky Sports on his hand injury, Frampton said, “It is just a bit of a twinge to my hand, nothing too serious, but I have seen a specialist and his advice was to rest it.”

The veteran Frampton has waited for his super-featherweight comeback for a long time. But, it seems he’ll have to spend a bit more time to recover well and give his best shot against Herring.

He feels a substantial recovery period will help him heal completely, making him fight-ready in every sense. Furthermore, both the fighters are in their prime and this bout has the audacity to sell in massive numbers irrespective of the locational changes.

However, Frampton edges over Herring in terms of experience and time spent inside the squared circle. He has a 28-2 track-record and moving into a fight with ‘Semper’, he’ll look to claim the titles and add his 29th pro win.

On the other side, Herring is one of the most improved fighters of recent times.

He won the super-featherweight title in 2019 and has defended it twice successfully. With a 22-2 record, ‘Semper’ sits at the peak of the super-featherweight roster and will not want to relinquish his throne.
