In a couple of hours, champion Jamel Herring will put his WBO junior lightweight title on the line against challenger Jonathan Oquendo. The event is set to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas. Here’s a little preview of the main event to let the boxing fans know what’s in store for them:

The 34-year-old Jamel Herring (21-2, 10 KOs) will look to make his second title defense after acquiring it from Japanese Masayuki Ito in May 2019. Jamal is also a former Olympian and a United States Marine Corps. He took part in the 2012 London Olympics, becoming the only US Marine to compete in the Olympics.

Herring is on a five-fight win streak with his last loss coming in August 2017 against Ladarius Miller. Herring’s meetings with Oquendo had been postponed twice as Jamal tested positive for COVID-19 both the times before their bout. With everything finally safe this time around, everyone is ready to go.

Jonathan Oquendo (31-6, 19 KOs) is a Puerto Rican boxer, who turned professional in 2005. His last fight was against Charles Huerta, where he won by unanimous decision. He will look to win his first title against Herring. He has previously challenged for the WBA (Regular) featherweight title in 2015.
