Jaron Ennis wanted a big-money fight ever since he became the IBF welterweight champion, but all he got was a mandatory challenge. Earlier this month, reports came out that the IBF has ordered ‘Boots’ Ennis to fight Cody Crowley in his next clash. So, Ennis has now taken to social media to predict the outcome of his next fight.

Both parties were instructed on January 31 to engage in a 30-day negotiation period; failure to comply would lead to severe disciplinary action from the sanctioning body. Despite online speculation generated by Ennis expressing a strong desire for a showdown with Terence Crawford, no concrete developments emerged. So, the undefeated IBF welterweight champion has to settle with Crowley for now.

Jaron Ennis guarantees a knockout win

Turning to X (formerly Twitter), the Philadelphia native claimed, “Miles in the bag. 32-0 29KOs coming soon.” Enis last fought in July last year against Roiman Villa, producing a tenth-round knockout win. Meanwhile, Crowley has been inactive since March last year when he won a majority decision victory against Abel Ramos.

The Ramos fight was a title eliminator bout, which also got Crowley the number three contender spot for Ennis’ IBF title. Interestingly, Ennis had won the interim version of his IBF title after defeating Karen Chukhadzhian in January last year. But he was made the champion because Crawford could not fight him as the mandatory challenger due to the rematch clause in his contract with Errol Spence Jr., which ended up not happening. Meanwhile, Ennis is currently in the midst of a lawsuit against his promoter at the moment.

Ennis wants out of Now Boxing!

Beyond his last appearance in July last year, Now Boxing has failed to offer any fights to the undefeated boxer. The promotional company was earlier run by Cameron Dunkin, but after his passing not long ago, the operations were handed over to his wife, Kellie. Moreover, according to their four-year contract, Ennis was supposed to compete four times a year for the first two years.

And three times a year for the subsequent two years. However, in 2023, Ennis could only enter the ring even twice, so he filed a lawsuit against the promotional company. He is hoping to get a release from the contract and an amount of $1,000,000. In the lawsuit, Ennis wrote, “Plaintiff avers that Mrs. Dunkin has absolutely no experience promoting professional boxing events. Plaintiff’s last bout took place on July 8, 2023. Defendant has failed to offer any bout opportunities since that date.”

With no other option in sight, Jaron Ennis will have to face Cody Crowley in his first IBF title defense. And as per his latest tweet, he seems confident about taking home the win! However, only time will tell whether he will be able to continue his undefeated reign. Are you excited to see Ennis back in the ring?
