Even after an aggressive start, Jermall Charlo had to enter the last round of his main event bout against Juan Macias Montiel tonight. Despite that, the WBC middleweight champion successfully defended his title via decision. However, many had predicted him to win via stoppage.

While ‘Hitman’ could pack his power-punches on Montiel, he received similar treatment from the other end. Regardless of all the punishment, Montiel didn’t quit and continued to come forward. It also appeared as a moral breakdown for Jermall Charlo, who was constantly hunting for a stoppage. That said, the latter rounds saw the champion fall prey to a few setbacks.

In the championship rounds, however, Montiel regained his form and gave Jermall Charlo a hard time. ‘Juanito’ even scored a knockdown in round ten, which was barely his achievement. Charlo, who slipped down because of his footwork, rose and continued as though the slip didn’t happen.

That said, several fans can pinpoint the flaws that can cost Charlo his title ahead. However, tonight was still his night and the WBC champion silenced his critics by beating a veteran in Montiel. Hence, ‘Hitman’ added a glittery name to his resume.
